Cottage Honkasaari is a traditional Finnish lakeside summer holiday home and comprises a cozy cottage, beach sauna and sleeping hut, all on an island near Kangasniemi village. Even if the village is near this holiday home, at Honkasaari you are surrounded by peaceful lakeside nature and privacy.
You can arrive to Kangasniemi by car or bus. The last 200/ 400 meters you row to the island. From Kangasniemi village it is 400 meters and from Kiviniemi camping area it is 200 meters. Onni-bus takes you next to Kiviniemi camping. Onni-bus starts from Mikkeli or Jyväskylä.
Honkasaari is a traditional Finnish cottage with a separate sauna building and sleeping hut. There are two beds in the sleeping hut and three in the main cottage.
At the yard, with nice views over the lake, there is a campfire place. Since there is no electricity the cottage and hut are also equipped with gas cooker and oven, gas fridge, oil lamps, radio and battery powered reading lamps.
Next to the private beach there is a sauna building with a traditional wood-heated sauna. After enjoying the soft heat of the sauna you just walk out to the jetty and take a swim either from the end of the jetty or from the beach.
The beach is child friendly and the water is clean and clear. The beach is shallow but the water at the end of the jetty is deep enough to swim in. The lake bottom is natural sand and hard. Lake Puula is rich in fish. You can fish pike, perch, zander (pikeperch) and bream by spinning or traditional line and hook.
Prices from: 490 euros/week and 340 euros/ 4 days. Final cleaning: 50 euros. Sheets and towels are 16 euros per set, or you can bring your own. Pet fee includes in the rent price. Between the 29 May and 9 September, 2017, the minimum rental period is 4 days and the arrival day is any weekday but Saturday.
